I am so honored and grateful to accept the Association of Fundraising Professional’s 2017 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award for the California Capital Chapter!
This was such a fun event and I had such a great time accepting the award and giving my speech. I had the opportunity to thank my incredible team of over 400 volunteers and I was so grateful to be able to spread foster care awareness to almost 400 people in the audience!
My entire family, my friends, my board members, my high school president and middle school principal were able to attend and I loved that they got to share this special day with me!
I am so thankful to be recognized with this award, but like I said in my speech, I am even more proud that we have celebrated 102 birthdays in only 6 months!
My favorite part of the day was definitely giving my speech and getting my message across that it is VITAL to advocate for foster children and we NEED to make positive impacts in these hurting children’s lives!
I hope I inspired the audience to make a difference. If a 16 year old kid can celebrate foster children, than grown adults can certainly help!
I cannot wait for future events I get to speak at and share my story and spread my message! I hope I have opportunities in the future to speak to even bigger audiences and impact even more people!
Here is my speech:
Thanks for celebrating!
